NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has unveiled the week six national coaches poll for NCAA Division III, with the Trine University women's cross country team ranked 35th overall.
Last week, the Thunder were unranked, but a standout performance at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble allowed them to move up two spots in the regional rankings and move back into the national rankings. Trine placed fourth overall at the event, with Lydia Randolph securing a third-place finish as an individual.
The biggest reason for the jump was defeating Case Western Reserve University last weekend, a team that was previously ranked 27th in the country. They were also two points away from Centre College, who now sits 32nd in the nation.
Trine enters the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Cross Country Championship event the number five team in the Great Lakes region and 35th-ranked team in NCAA Division III. The championship meet takes place on Saturday, October 29 at Alma College beginning at 11 am.
