Thunder Fall to Albion in MIAA-Opener

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's lacrosse team opened MIAA-play with an 18-7 loss to Albion Wednesday afternoon in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.

The Brits scored the first three goals of the contest and never trailed in the victory. Ashley Glenn and Kadie Koolwick each scored five goals to lead the way for Albion. The Britons outshot the Thunder by a 38-14 margin. Darcy Little (Williamsburg, Ohio/Williamsburg) scored three goals and notched an assist for her second-consecutive four-point effort for Trine. Little has scored three goals in each of the last three contests. Trine falls to 1-4 overall, 0-1 in the MIAA. Albion is now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Alyssa Glenn scored four goals and notched an assist for Albion, while Mackenzie Nowak added three goals and three assists. The Britons held a 20-7 advantage in draw controls.

Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) added two goals for the Thunder. Hunter Johnson (Millbury, Ohio/Lake) and Taylor Gast (Akron, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) scored the other Trine goals.

Ashley and Alyssa Glenn combined for all nine of their goals in the first half to pace the Britons to a 13-3 halftime advantage. After a goal by Johnson cut the score to 5-3, the Britons scored the next nine goals of the contest to pull away and build a lead that was too much for Trine to overcome.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Apr. 5 when they travel to Olivet for a 1:00 p.m. match.
