ANGOLA, Ind. – The 2023 spring season for the Trine University baseball team is upon us and the team has released their season schedule.
The team opens the regular season on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26 with a three-game set at Anderson University. From there, the Thunder will travel south to Florida for the annual spring break trip to compete in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on March 5-10. Trine will play eight total games in the sunshine state, including doubleheaders versus John Carroll University and Penn State-Altoona. The team split their two games against the Blue Streaks in 2022.
When the Thunder return to the state of Indiana, they will compete against the Franklin College Grizzlies in a best-of-three series on March 18-19. The home opener at Jannen Field will be on Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. versus Manchester University. The non-conference slate of the schedule concludes with three games in the Buona Beef Restaurants Classic on March 25-26, and a home contest against Ohio Northern University on March 28.
A three-game series with Olivet College opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play for the second consecutive year on April 1-2. Trine swept the Comets one season ago with a +15 run differential. The Thunder host the final game with Olivet to begin a run of three consecutive home games on April 4 (Adrian College) and April 7 (Kalamazoo College). The series with the Hornets concludes on April 8 with a road doubleheader.
After a midweek road game at Adrian, the team will battle Alma College for three games on April 15-16. The series with the Bulldogs concludes on April 18 with a single home game. The regular season wraps up with three more sets with Calvin University (April 21-22), Albion College (April 28 and 30) and the defending MIAA regular season champions Hope College (May 4-5).
