ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University men's volleyball players Hunter Monday (Beech Grove, Ind./Lutheran) and Parker Beale (Noblesville, Ind./Fishers) have been named this week's Offensive and Defensive "Players of the Week" by the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL).
Monday was tabbed the "Defensive Player of the Week" after leading the team in digs with 28 in two matches played during the past week. He averaged 3.50 digs per set and also finished with three total blocks (two solo and one assist). Monday is fifth in the league in digs (104) and fourth in the digs per set (2.54). In addition to his defensive numbers, Monday had a team-best 70 set assists and averaged 8.75 assists per set.
Beale tallied 33 kills and had a .299 attack percentage to earn "Offensive Player of the Week" honors. He averaged 4.12 kills per set with 10 kills against Indiana Tech and 23 kills in a match against Hiram (Ohio) College. Beale currently sits third in the MCVL in overall kills (131) and fourth in kills per set (3.20). Also for the week, he also had 16 digs (2.00 d/s) and five total blocks (all assists) defensively.
Trine will host its next two matches starting with a matchup against Fontbonne (Mo.) University to continue MCVL play on Friday, Feb. 21 at Hershey Hall. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
