ANGOLA, Ind. – In January, the Trine University men's volleyball team kicks off the 2024 campaign and have released their season schedule. There are eight opportunities to see the thunder play at home inside Hershey Hall this spring.
Trine begins the year with two tri-matches, the first at Concordia University Chicago and the second at Mount St. Joseph University. The Thunder face Maranatha Baptist University and Concordia Chicago on January 13 then square off with Wisconsin Lutheran College and Mount St. Joseph on January 20.
Opening weekend at home will be on January 27 and 28 when Trine plays host to Marian University out of Wisconsin beginning at 6 p.m. and Lakeland University on the following day at 3 p.m. From there, the Thunder venture to Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana for a non-conference affair on January 30.
The entire month of February will be spent away from home, as the Thunder make trips to Illinois, upstate New York and western Pennsylvania. Trine plays Aurora University and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois for a tri-match on February 3. On February 10, the Thunder compete at Hilbert College for a tri-match versus the host Hawks as well as the State University of New York (SUNY) Poly Wildcats.
Trine is in western Pennsylvania for three matches on February 16-17. The Thunder will make a stop at Thiel College to face the Tomcats on the Friday night before a tri-match at Penn State University-Behrend on Saturday where Trine faces the host Lions and Buffalo State University.
Conference play begins on Friday, March 1 in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) when the Thunder do battle with the Calvin University Knights, a new NCAA DIII men's volleyball program. Bethany College is the final non-conference contest in the regular season on March 5, both of those matches will take place at home inside Hershey Hall.
The final eight matches will be inside the MCVL, starting with Fontbonne University on March 15 and Wabash College on March 16. The Thunder will welcome the University of Mount Union to campus on March 22 and then host the defending MCVL Tournament champions in Baldwin Wallace University the next day. The final two home matches come against the University of Olivet on March 29 and Adrian College on March 30.
The final two matches of the regular season will be at Wittenberg University and Mount St. Joseph University on April 5 and 6. Should the team qualify for the MCVL Tournament, that will take place on April 12-13.
