ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University Triathlon athlete, Hannah Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) has been recognized for her recent performance at the Central Region Qualifier by The College Triathlon Coaches Association as an All-Region Freshman and being selected to the All-Region Team.

The awards were decided and awarded based on the following criteria, to be named All-Region Freshman, each regional championship will recognize the top freshman varsity finisher, per division, at each regional championship.  To be named to the All-Region Team, those that finish in the top three in their Division at each of the regional championship meets will receive the honor.

This past Monday (Sept. 5), Blystone finished first amongst D-III opponents at the Central Region Qualifier and eighth overall.  She completed the three-stage race with an overall time of 1:06:27.2, setting a personal best and also qualified for the National Championship Meet in November.  Blystone's time was only surpassed by seven athletes from Division I Arizona State University with World Championship experience.

Blystone started out the event by completing the 750-meter swim in a time of 10:15.8 which was the fourth fastest amongst D-III athletes.  In the next stage, the 20-kilometer bike, Blystone was the first Thunder athlete to cross the finish line with a mark of 35:35.2.  She then made up time in the five-kilometer run by posting the top time amongst D-III athletes and fifth fastest overall at 19:12.4.

Blystone and the Thunder will next compete in the Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon in Williams Bay, Wisc. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
