Trine Basketball Teams Ranked In Latest Top-10

ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University men's and women's basketball teams have been ranked in the first national rankings of the year by D3hoops.com.

The men's team is currently ranked sixth and the women's team is currently ranked fifth.

The Thunder men enter tonight's game against Hope (Mich.) College with a 7-0 record and the women are also undefeated at 5-0 going into tonight's matchup against Hope who is ranked No. 1 in the same poll.

The men have been led this season by junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) who is averaging 23.3 ppg. and is second in the MIAA.  In addition, his 23.3 ppg. ranks 17th in NCAA Division III.  He is shooting 57.0 percent (61-of-107) in overall field goal percentage and 50.0 percent (12-of-24) from three-point range.  Bowman also averages 4.4 rebounds per game and is among the team leaders in assists with 16. Defensively, Bowman leads the team in steals with 20.

Junior Tara Bieniewicz (Chesterfield, Mich./Dakota) currently leads the team in scoring at 9.8 ppg. on 30.6 percent shooting (15-of-49).  She is also averging 3.0 rpg. to go along with seven assists, five steals and three blocked shots.

The Trine men will host Hope at 7:30 p.m. at the MTI Center and the women travel to Holland, Mich. to take on Hope at 7:30 p.m.
