ANGOLA, IND. -- Junior Trine University men's basketball player Myles Copeland (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo St. John's) added to his list of postseason awards as a third-team D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region selection.
Copeland helped lead the Thunder to a seventh-straight appearance in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament in 2017-18 and finished as one of the top players in the league earning first-team All-MIAA recognition.
Copeland was one of the top scoring threats for Trine throughout the season who averaged a team-best 20.1 ppg. His 20.1 ppg. scoring average was also the fourth highest in the MIAA. Copeland scored in double figures in all but five games this season with 12 games of 20 or more points, four games of 30 or more points and a career-high 41-point effort in a win against Calvin (Mich.) College which was the fourth-highest individual point total in a game in program history.
For the season, Copeland shot 48.7 percent (189-of-388) overall from the field and 78.0 percent at the free-throw line, leading the team in both free-throws made (145) and attempts (186). His 145 made free-throws were the fifth most in a single season and his 186 attempts ranked as the sixth highest all-time.
On the glass, Copeland ranked second on the team in total rebounds with 165 (38 offensive and 127 defensive) and rebounding average at 6.3 boards per game.
In addition, he ended the year second in blocked shots with 17 to go along with 40 assists and 13 steals.
After two seasons, Copeland has scored 837 points and averaged 16.1 ppg. He has a 49.5 lifetime shooting percentage (304-of-614) overall and is a 76.8 percent shooter from the free-throw line (228-of-297). Copeland has pulled down 288 total rebounds (69 offensive and 219 defensive) with a 5.5 rebounds per game average. He also has tallied 65 assists to go along with 27 blocked shots and 25 steals, defensively.
