FREELAND, Mich. – Nick Bowman [Angola, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] of the Trine University men's basketball team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week following the team's 72-70 victory over Baldwin Wallace University on Sunday.
Bowman scored a team-high 23 points in the win and netted the game-clinching field goal on a pick-and-roll with 0.6 seconds remaining to send the home crowd into a frenzy. Overall, Bowman was 6-of-14 from the field, made his only attempt from long range and cashed in on 10-of-14 free throws while chipping in two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes.
Through six games this season, the senior is leading the MIAA in scoring at 21.6 points per game. He also sits second in the league with an average of 6.2 made free throws per game.
It is the fourth time in Bowman's career that he has won the MIAA Athlete of the Week award. The Thunder men are off until Wednesday, December 8 at 7 pm when Heidelberg University comes to MTI Center.
