FREELAND, Mich. – Nick Bowman [Angola, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] of the Trine University men's basketball team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week. It is the second time this season and fifth time in Bowman's career he has been honored by the MIAA.
The senior guard was a heavy contributor to two Thunder victories at home this week, including an 88-63 victory against Adrian College and a 100-48 thrashing of Olivet College.
Bowman scored a season-high 28 points against the Bulldogs while he stuffed the stat sheet with a team-high seven rebounds and six steals. He tied for the team lead by distributing three assists as well. Against Olivet, he scored 16 points and helped orchestrate the offense that tied the school record with 29 assists on 39 made field goals. Bowman had four assists, three rebounds, three steals and two makes from beyond the arc.
This season, Bowman is averaging a league-high 19.1 points per game and is second in NCAA DIII with 104 makes from the free throw line. The senior also sits 10th in steals per game at 3.1 per game.
Trine men's basketball hits the road tomorrow on Tuesday, February 1 at 7:30 pm against Albion College.
