ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) has announced the four remaining contenders for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Trine University men's volleyball team joins the University of Mount Union, Baldwin Wallace University and Wittenberg University as the four teams competing for the MCVL Tournament Championship.
The Thunder earned the four seed with a 5-3 conference record in 2023. The Purple Raiders of Mount Union are the top seed at 7-1 in league play and have secured the right to host this year's conference tournament. Trine and Mount Union will square off in the second game of the day at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 14. The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets and Wittenberg Tigers will meet in the two versus three matchup beginning at 4 p.m. The conference championship will be decided on Saturday, April 15 at 4 p.m.
Single session tickets will be sold for $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and children aged 3-17. Students are admitted free at the gate. Tickets can be bought online using the TICKETING LINK provided. More information about the event can be found on the MCVL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL page.
Last season, the team traveled to Fontbonne University for the MCVL Tournament and suffered a Tournament Semifinal exit to the top-seeded Griffins, 3-0. The 2023 opponent for the Thunder won the MCVL Tournament Championship in 2022, their first in program history. When these two teams met in the regular season, the Purple Raiders were able to defeat Trine on their home floor 3-1 in the regular season finale.
