OBERLIN, Ohio - The Trine University cross country teams compete at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College where both the men’s and women’s teams finished 21st.
On the men’s side, 32 teams and 275 racers competed in the 8k race that saw Geneseo St. take home the men’s title with 55 points. The Thunder finished the day with 546 points as senior Matt Burgess (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) led the Thunder in 38th place with a time of 25:16. Finishing in 66th place was junior Michael Hammond (Columbia City, Ind./Bellmont) in a time of 25:38.8. Senior Corbin Buckler (Marion, Ind./Eastbrook) finished the course in a time of 26:25.3 to place 121st. Freshman Colin Thompson (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) placed 200th overall, with a time of 27:32.9. Rounding out the team scoring for Trine was junior Lincoln Frey (Pettisville, Ohio/Pettisville) who finished the race in 205th place in a time of 27:40.8.
On the women’s side, host Oberlin won the team title with 65 points as the Thunder finished with 578 points. Leading the way for Trine was freshman Gabbie Bates (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia) who placed 54th with a time of 22:50.7. In 104th was fellow freshman Ariel McCoy (Garrett, Ind./Garrett) who completed the 6k course in a time of 23:30.8. Senior Annalisa Krug (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) came across the finish line in a time of 24:10.7 to place 142nd. Finishing in 180th place was freshman Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) who finished the race in a time of 24:52.5. Senior Sannie Anderson (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia) rounded out the scoring for the Thunder with a time of 25:03.4 to finish in 191st place.
Trine will take next weekend off before returning to action on October 27 at the MIAA conference Championships hosted by Albion College beginning at 11:00 a.m.
