Trine swept the Bulldogs during the regular season in a pair of tightly contested games. The first game was scoreless into the final inning, with freshman Debbie Hill going the distance in the circle allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out eight. Hill then won the game for herself with a walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh. Game two saw the Thunder score three in the first and then hang on for a 3-1 victory, senior Anna Koeppl recorded the win with five innings pitched and junior Alexis Michon added a save.
Calvin represents the lone loss for the Thunder during the MIAA regular season, with the two team's splitting their doubleheader. The Knights took the first game 4-2 in extra innings, before Trine came up with the 2-0 victory in the second. The Scots, on the other hand, were swept by the Thunder in a pair of high scoring games, the first going 8-5 and the second an 8-0 run-rule game.
Trine won their 12th MIAA Championship by finishing the regular season 15-1 in conference play. They are currently ranked sixth in the nation and boast a 32-4 overall record.
