LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Trine University softball team retained the top spot in the newest edition of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The Thunder were once again unanimously selected in first receiving all ten first-place votes in the poll. Salisbury University, who Trine defeated in last years national championship game, were once again placed second. Linfield University jumped into third after a 4-0 start to their season.
Trine opened the season at the 2024 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic where they went 4-1. The team won those four games by an average of 8.25 runs including a 4-2 victory 12th ranked Belhaven University. Their lone loss came against Christopher Newport University, now fifth ranked in the poll, on the final day of the event by the score of 4-3.
The Thunder are set to continue their spring break slate by traveling to Florida. They open competition on Wednesday, March 6 when they are scheduled to face Emmanual (Mass.) College and the University of Mount Union.
