ANGOLA, IND.-- Take a look at the upcoming schedule and the week ahead in Trine Thunder Athletics.
Monday
Volleyball: NCAA Tournament Selection Show, 11 a.m.
The Thunder will find out if their body of work is enough to
warrant an NCAA Tournament selection. Trine finished the season
24-6 overall, with a 12-4 conference mark to place third in the
MIAA. The Thunder have been ranked in two of three NCAA Regionals
rankings released, but were not ranked in the most-recent
release.
Saturday
Men's and Women's Cross Country: NCAA Division III Great
Lakes Regional, 10 a.m.
The Thunder cross country teams head to Wilmington, Ohio looking
to extend their seasons. The Trine men most-recently placed fourth
in the MIAA Championships for their best finish since 2007. Adam
Schaaf earned all-conference recognition for his performance in the
race. The Thunder women placed seventh in the conference
championships.
Wrestling: Trine Invitational, 10 a.m.
The open meet will be one of three chances Thunder fans will have
the team in action at home this season. Trine is coming off a
performance that saw the team produce three top-three finisheers at
the season-opening Ben McMullen Invitational- Niko Barrantes (125),
Michael Conner (197), Tylor Willms (149) and Mack Green (285).
Football: Adrian at Trine, 1 p.m.
The MIAA Championship will be decided as the Thunder and Bulldogs
square off at Shive Field and Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium. At
stake is an outright MIAA Championship and an automatic bid to the
NCAA Division III playoffs. Trine enters the contest 6-3 overall
and 4-1 in the MIAA. Adrian enters 7-2 overall, 4-1 in conference
play. The Bulldogs earned their last MIAA in 2012. Trine last won a
conference championship in 2010.
Men's Basketball: Trine at Heidelberg, 5:30 p.m.
After battling Indiana State in an exhibition, the Thunder will
open the regular-season against the Student Princes. Heidelberg won
last season's meeting by a 74-51 final. Trine is coming off a 15-11
season.
Women's Basketball: Trine vs. Ohio Northern, 8 p.m.
The Thunder will play their first regular-season game under head
coach Ryan Gould, as they face the Polar Bears at the Franklin
College Tip-Off Classic. Trine is coming off a 6-19 season, but
have 10 newcomers to this year's roster.
Sunday
Women's Basketball: Trine at Muskingum, 3 p.m.
The Thunder wrap up their performance in the Franklin Tip-Off
Classic against Muskingum. The Fighting Muskies are coming off a
7-18 season.
