MARIAN, Ind. – At the 2024 Indiana Little States Championships, the Trine University men's track and field team placed fifth in a stout field of 15 teams from across the Hoosier State. Marian University were crowned the team champions after accumulating 195.5 points, more than double second-place Vincennes University.
A victorious effort in the 4x100-meter relay was the highlight for the team on Saturday, with Maxwell Harris, Greysen Spohn, Jayjouir Roberts and Jake Gladieux earning the top spot with a time of 42.14 seconds. Gladieux nabbed the only other event win of the day in the 110-meter hurdles. He ran a time of 14.50 seconds to top the leaderboard while Spohn was third at 15.04 seconds and Joshua Slimak eighth to score a point for the team at 15.97 seconds.
A fourth and fifth-place combo by Drew Sillaway and Joseph Packard in the 5000-meter run saw multiple points scored for the squad as well. Sillaway completed the race in 15:19.69 while Packard ran a 15:21.16. A fifth-place finish was also marked to Max Van Huis in the 3000-meter steeplechase event. The freshman had a time of 9:44.20.
In sprint, sixth-place finishes were held by Harris in the 100-meter dash and Spohn in the 200-meter dash. Harris had a time of 10.98 seconds while Spohn was timed at 22.39 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Gladieux, Jack Melvin, Philip Nemechek and Tyler Hartleroad were seventh at 3:34.33 to wrap up point scorers for the team.
