WAVERLY, IOWA -- The Trine University men's indoor track & field team finished fifth overall after the final day of events at the Division III Elite Indoor Championships hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
The men finished with an overall team score of 37.5 points to place fifth out of 30 teams. Host school Wartburg won the the meet with 107 points and Loras (Iowa) College was third with 100 points. Bethel (Minn.) University was third with 43 points.
Individually, Trine had three competitors participate on the final day that included sophomore Jake Gladieux (Oregon, Ohio/Whitmer) in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. After running a time of 8.33 seconds yesterday in the prelims, Gladieux improved by six one-hundreths of a second in the finals at 8.27 seconds and placed fourth overall. His mark in the finals fell just one-hundreth of a second shy of his own school record that he set last February (2020).
Also in finals action on the track, freshman Danny Vinson (Berrien Springs, Mich./Berrien Springs) followed up his mark in the prelims of the 60-meter dash yesterday (7.04 seconds) and ran a time of 6.96 seconds in the finals to finish fourth.
In the field events, two athletes competed with sophomore Ben Williams (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) leading the way with a third-place finish in the long jump following a best leap of 22' 5.75".
Junior Greysen Spohn (Peru, Ind./Peru) finished in the top-10 in the high jump by placing in a tie for seventh overall after clearing the bar at a height of 6' 3.50".
With the conclusion of this weekend's Division III Elite Indoor Championships, the Trine men wrap-up the indoor season and will next set its sights on outdoor competition. Stay tuned for more details and future dates of competition.
