MARION, Ind. – The Trine University men's and women's track and field teams was in action on the opening day of the Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Thunder men are in sixth out of 10 teams while the women are eighth. Indiana Tech leads on both the men's and women's team leaderboards.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Evan Selby, William Thonn, Ben Williams and Greysen Spohn finished fourth overall in the event with a time of 42.63 seconds to score the most points for the team on the day. Spohn and Selby also secured points in the 110-meter hurdles with finishes of fifth (14.91 seconds) and sixth (14.97 seconds). Aaron Pike secured a time of 11.27 seconds in the 100-meter dash, the lowest time for the team (25th).
The women had four top-10 finishers in sprint and relay events. The team of Mackenzie Miller, Kaleigh Maschino, Mallory Wood and Malena Ricks finished fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 49.94 seconds. Trine also had a seventh-place relay team of Eleanor Young, Bailey Puckett, Marissa Kenney and Amira Faulkner in the 4x800-meter relay (10:03.76). Miller was an eighth-place finisher in the 100-meter dash (12.42 seconds), while Brynn Mericle crossed the finish line with the ninth-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.61 seconds.
