HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Trine University men's track and field team had two recipients of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week award. Jake Gladieux and Greysen Spohn won the conferences Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards following record-breaking individual performances at the Indiana Tech Strive for Greatness Invitational.
Gladieux, a senior from Oregon, Ohio, was named MIAA Track Athlete of the Week for the fourth time in his career during the indoor season. He broke the school record with a 22.23-second 200-meter run and was fifth-place in the event. He also won the 60-meter hurdle race with a time of 8.10 seconds, just .04 seconds off of his career-best.
Spohn competed in both the 200-meter and 60-meter hurdle events just as Gladieux did, but also secured a school record in the high jump to acquire the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week award for the first time in his career for the indoor season. The senior from Peru, Indiana reached a height of 1.98 meters (6' 6.00") to tie the school record mark in the high jump and finish third. Along with that mark, he scored finishes of third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.27 seconds) and tenth in the 200-meter run (22.42 seconds).
The duo, along with the rest of the Trine University men's track and field team, will race at home for the first time in their next event on Saturday, January 14. The Sean Brady Alumni Invitational will take place inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC) beginning at 12 p.m.
