HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Theodore Samra of the Trine University men's track and field team has been honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and sixth time in his career.
At the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational, Samra set new personal bests in the weight throw and shot put. He was the top NCAA DIII student-athlete in each event and had scores of 17.77 meters (58' 3.75") in the weight throw and 15.07 meters (49' 5.50") in the shot put. So far this season, Samra is third in the nation in the weight throw and is also 12th in the shot put.
As a team, the Thunder were third overall in a field of 14 and wer ethe top placing NCAA DIII institution at the home event.
Samra and the rest of the Trine men's and women's track and field team will aim to improve upon their best performances on Saturday, January 21 at the Mastodon Invitational at Purdue-Fort Wayne.
