HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has unveiled the indoor season MVP's and All-MIAA recipients. Six members of the Trine University men's and women's track and field teams were honored for their performances in the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships.
The MIAA Men's Field MVP was junior Ethan Spahr for the second consecutive season. The Osseo, Michigan native set two personal and school records and he was the event champion in the triple jump at 13.36 meters (43' 10.00") to garner All-MIAA honors. He was also second in both the high jump and long jump. Spahr tied the school record mark in the high jump at 1.98 meters (6' 6.00"). In the long jump, his score of 6.79 meters (22' 3.50") gave him 26 total points at the MIAA Indoor Championships.
Senior Jake Gladieux from Oregon, Ohio won the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.05 seconds to secure his fifth All-MIAA award of his indoor career. Gladieux also set new personal best times in the 60-meter dash (6.97 seconds) and 200-meter dash (21.95 seconds).
The third All-MIAA recipient from the men's team was senior Kimball Hughes. The Reading, Michigan native won the weight throw with a new personal best score of 16.28 meters (53' 5.00"). He was fourth in the shot put at the event as well (14.46 meters / 47' 5.25").
On the women's side, junior Mackenzie Miller was tabbed All-MIAA after claiming first place in the long jump. Her score of 5.37 meters (17' 7.50") allowed the Paw Paw, Michigan native to secure the first All-MIAA award of her career and Miller also tallied two school records at the MIAA Indoor Championships in the 60-meter dash (7.85 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (26.17 seconds).
In the triple jump, freshman Emmaline Leatherman was named All-MIAA after winning the event with a new personal best score of 10.51 meters (34' 5.75"). The Madison, Indiana native also set a new career-best score in the long jump at 4.89 meters (16' 0.50") and scored in the high jump at 1.35 meters (4' 5.00").
Sophomore Bailey Puckett from Cambridge City, Indiana was named All-MIAA following an event win in the mile run. Puckett led the pack with a time of 5:06.51 to earn her first career All-MIAA honor in indoor track and field.
The teams travel to Wartburg College to compete in the Last Chance Meet on March 1-2 in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships.
