NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the all-Region recipients from the 2023-24 indoor season. The Trine University men's and women's track and field teams saw four members garner five All-Region awards.
In order to be named All-Region, a student-athlete must have a time inside the top-five in their respective areas. Trine is located inside the Great Lakes region.
On the women's side, Bailey Puckett ran a season-best time of 5:05.43 in the mile run to earn her first career All-Region award during the indoor season. The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion in the event ran that time at the Midwest Elite Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Representing the Trine men were Jake Gladieux, Ethan Spahr and Greysen Spohn. These three student-athletes collected four All-Region awards in total.
Gladieux was considered All-Region in both the 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash and qualified for the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships in each event. He ran the best time in the region in the 60-meter hurdles at 7.99 seconds and the second-best 200-meter dash time in the region at 21.95 seconds (both school records).
Spahr had the third-highest score in the region in the heptathlon after competing at the Last Chance Meet at Wartburg College. He rattled off a score of 4831 at the event. The MIAA field MVP had new personal best times in four of the seven events, including the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter run.
Spohn was an All-Region honoree in the 60-meter hurdles as well after a season-best time of 8.20 seconds at the Wittenberg University Steemer Showcase. It was the fifth-best time in the Great Lakes region and is his third career All-Region award.
Up next, Gladieux will represent the team at the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships on March 8-9.
