ACHA D2 Completes Two-Game Sweep of Akron

ACHA D2 Completes Two-Game Sweep of Akron

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine ACHA D2 men's hockey defeated the University of Akron by the score of 18-0.

The Thunder scored their first goal of the game in just the 31st second when forward Michael Rand took a pass from defenseman Cody Dombrowski and put it past the Zips' netminder. Rand would finish the evening with three goals and four assists, good enough to lead the team in points with seven.

Fellow forward Carmine Taffo would lead the team in goals, however, tallying five on the night.

Two goalies would see play for the Thunder in the game as Aaron Brickman would get the start but would come out halfway through the second period to be replaced by Joe Longo. Neither would face many shots, as Trine's defense kept the pressure off of them.

The Thunder improve to 3-0 on the season with the win. They will look to continue their winning ways on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. when Ferris State University comes to the Thunder Ice Arena.
