FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Trine University women's wrestling team traveled to Indiana Tech for a weekend's worth of competition. On Friday the team competed in a pair of dual matches before an individual tournament on Saturday.
The first of the team's duals was against Tiffin University, with the Dragons securing a 31-11 win. Michelle Sanchez earned the first points for the Thunder, receiving a forfeit at 116. Madison Small picked up pin in the 136 match, needing just 2:02 to earn the max points for her team.
The team turned around to face Hiram College in their second dual, with the Terriers winning 23-14. Riley Morrison got the first win in the match with a 6-0 decision at 109. Michaela Dykes and Ashton Francis both received forfeits to finish off the match.
Today, the full contingent from Trine competed in the Warrior Women's Open, but no one was able to place.
The Thunder will travel to the DIII Nationals in East Moline, Ill. for their next competition. That event begins on Saturday, February 3.
