DELAWARE, OHIO—Trine's Tyler Bourdo will compete for a national title in the 2014 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships this weekend.
Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) will compete in the 400-Meter Dash. The junior previously earned All-American recognition for his performance in the indoor track and field season. The 2014 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships are being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Stadium/George Gauthier Track. Events begin Thursday, May 22.
Bourdo will be looking to build off his fifth-place finish in the Indoor National Championships. He ran a time of 48.33 seconds in the Indoor Nationals, held at University of Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center. The junior was named First-Team All-MIAA for his performances at MIAA Field Day and the MIAA Jamboree. He was twice-named MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week this season.
Bourdo is Trine's school-record holder in the 400-Meter Dash. He finished first in the event at the DePauw Invitational, topped a field that included Division II runners in the Al Owens Invitational and was the top performer in the race at MIAA Field Day. Bourdo also set a school-record in the 200-Meter Dash this year.
Preliminaries of the 400-Meter Dash will be run Friday night at 7:15 p.m. The championship race is scheduled for Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
