LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Trine University softball team moved up two sports in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III poll after finishing their regular season with a 33-3 overall record. The team went 4-0 in the previous week outscoring of their opponents 74-2.
After finishing out conference play this past weekend with two shutouts wins against Albion (22-0 and 26-0) and a no-hitter in their sweep against Saint Mary’s (Ind.) (4-0 and 22-2), the Thunder completed their season with a 16-0 conference record to win the MIAA title. The team became the first MIAA squad since 1999 to go undefeated in conference play. The No. 2 ranking marks the highest on record for a Trine team. The softball team previously shared the honor when it was ranked fourth in the NFCA poll along with the 1998 football team.
