FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the 2022 edition of their men's lacrosse All-MIAA teams and Trine University was represented by senior Dave Keptner (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow) as a first team defensive selection.
"Dave has had a tremendous season and is very deserving of this honor," said head coach Ryan Kuhn, "He's been a leader for us both on and off the field and has become one of the most decorated players to have ever worn a Trine Jersey. He's had as dominant a season which will go down as one of the best for any defender in program history."
This season was a spectacular end to the fifth-year senior's career at Trine, breaking multiple records. In just the fourth game of the season Keptner recorded eight caused turnovers against Ohio Northern University, a program record for a single game.
It would set the tone for the season which would see Keptner become the career leader at Trine in caused turnovers with 108 through the season, surpassing the old record of 80. He then also shattered the program record for caused turnovers in a single season with 46, surpassing the next best effort by 16.
Keptner would also post 87 groundballs during the season, leading the team. The total represents the fourth best single season by a Thunder player. It also grows his career tally to 241, moving him solidly into second on the career lists for the program.
This is the third time that Keptner has been selected All-MIAA and the second time he has been named to the first team. He was previously named to the first team in 2019 and to the second team in 2021, the award was not given out for the 2020 season.
