HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The Trine University men's lacrosse team has been selected to finish sixth in the upcoming Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in a poll of the seven conference coaches.
The Thunder finished with 11 points in the poll. The point totals are determined by votes cast by the association's coaches, who cannot vote for their own team, with highest point total receiving the top spot.
Hope was selected to finish first in the upcoming season, earning the maximum six first-place votes. The After finish second during the 2023 regular season, the Flying Dutch went on to win the postseason tournament and represent the conference on the national stage. Albion, last year's regular season champion, was selected to finish second and received the final first-place vote.
The Thunder are once again led by head coach Ryan Kuhn, returning for this third season at the helm. Kuhn has led the team to two-straight 9-5 seasons, making for the winningest pair of seasons in program history.
In 2023, Trine began the year with nine straight wins, including the opening game of the MIAA slate. The final five games went against the team for them to finish 1-5 in MIAA play and 9-5 overall.
The Thunder are set to open their season on Sunday, February 18 when they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn for a 2 p.m. contest.
