ADRIAN, MICH. -- The Trine University men's soccer team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponent Adrian (Mich.) College by a margin of 1-0 in conference action in Adrian, Mich.
After a scoreless first half, Trine (7-4, 2-3 MIAA) got an excellent scoring opportunity by way of a penalty kick 12 minutes into the second period. Junior Brian Morris (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer) took the shot and found the back of the net to break the stalemate and give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.
The lone score turned out to be the only point of the contest as Adrian (0-8, 0-4 MIAA) was held to four shots in the second half and freshman goalkeeper Troy Saylor (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) kept all shots that the Bulldogs put on net from going past to preserve the one-goal victory and shutout for the Thunder.
Saylor also picked up the win, playing all 90 minutes and made a total of four saves.
Trine will play its final two games of the regular season at home starting with a MIAA matchup against Albion (Mich.) College on Tuesday, Apr. 13 at Weaver Field. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
