NAPERVILLE, Ill.--Trine's 4-x-100-meter relay team set a new school-record Friday in the NCC Final Qualifier Track and Field Meet, hosted by North Central College.
John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll), Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo), John Harris-Scott (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Wiregrass Ranch) and Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) broke an 18-year old team record by 0.17 seconds, coming in with a time of 41.44 seconds. At the time of writing, that mark was tied for 19th in the nation. If that ranking were to hold through the end of the weekend, the team would receive an invite to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Canton, N.Y.
Richardville also competed in the 100-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 11.01 seconds.
The 4-x-400-relay team, made up of Richardville, Bourdo, Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) and Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) ran a time of 3:19.26. That mark was eighth among teams competing in the meet.
The 4-x-100-meter relay runners will await the weekend's results to determine if they are eligible for a national championship invite. At the time of writing, Bourdo remained in the hunt for another national bid in the 400-meter dash. He is currently ranked 17th in the nation in the event.
The field for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships will be announced Monday.
