SAUGATUCK, MICH. -- The Trine University women's golf team traveled to Saugatuck, Mich. for the fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association event of the spring in the Hope (Mich.) College Invitational and placed fourth overall at Clearbrook Golf Club.
Sophomore Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) led the Thunder on the afternoon with a single-round total of 82 strokes which put her in a tie for sixth overall. Junior Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) continued her solid play this spring with a round of 85 strokes and tied for 20th place.
Sophomore Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) and senior Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) tied for the third-lowest score on the team with a pair of 87's and sophomore Reagan Guthrie (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa Area) rounded out the team scoring with an 18-hole total of 89 strokes.
As a team, Trine had a cumulative score of 341 strokes to place fourth of nine schools. St. Mary's (Ind.) College was first with a score of 323 strokes and was followed by host school Hope at 324 strokes. Calvin (Mich.) University was third at 337 strokes.
Additionally, sophomore Anabelle Burkholder (Lima, Ohio/Bath) saw action as an individual and fired a round of 98 strokes.
Trine will next compete in the Adrian (Mich.) College Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 10 at The Hills of Lenawee Golf Course in Adrian, Mich. The single-round tournament is set to start at 1 p.m.
