JACKSON, Mich. – The Trine University women's golf team was in action on Monday afternoon for the rescheduled Brit-Thunder Cup. The 2024 edition of the match play event saw the Thunder defend their championship with a 30-23 victory over Albion College.
Junior Grace Dubec dominated her matchup 11-2 to give the team a commanding lead. She won every hole from 4-11 as well as three of the final four holes on the course to cruise to a victory.
Pairing two featuring sophomore Calley Ruff for Trine went even at 6-6. Five of Ruff's points were earned on the back nine holes.
Sophomore Grace Thiele struggled on the front nine, but fought back after making the turn. All told, Thiele came up short in her matchup 8-7.
The final pairing saw senior Caroline Boyd keep it close with a 7-6 loss to maintain the advantage and result in the team win. Boyd was able to outscore her opponent 5-2 on the back nine.
The rescheduled Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #4 is next for the Thunder on Thursday, April 11. Tee time at Zollner Golf Course will be at 1 p.m.
