ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's golf team is the first to tee off of any sport at the university this fall and have released their full slate of 2023 fall tournaments.
The Thunder, led by head coach Noah Warren, are looking to build upon a sixth-place finish in the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) campaign and are hosting a pair of competitions in both the conference and non-conference portions of the slate.
Trine kicks off the season at home for the annual Trine Women Kick-Off Classic at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana on Tuesday, August 28. Tee time is at 1 p.m. for the team's first event of the school year.
From there, the Thunder will be a part of loaded fields at the IU East Fall Invitational at Highland Lake Golf Course in Richmond, Indiana on September 1-2 as well as the Kyle Campbell Invitational at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan on September 8-9. Each of these events are 36-hole events.
Conference play begins on September 14 when MIAA teams travel to Albion College to compete in the first Jamboree event at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan. There are two other road events in MIAA play this fall for Trine: MIAA Jamboree #2 at Calvin and Thornapple Point Golf Club on September 27 and MIAA Jamboree #3 at Kalamazoo and Milham Park Golf Club on September 30.
The final event of the fall is MIAA Jamboree #4, hosted by the Thunder at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana on October 5. It will be the second home event of the year for the Trine women and lead into the spring season where the MIAA Championship rounds will take place, a new change for the MIAA women's golf season.
Previously, there was an MIAA Fall Championship followed by automatic qualifying rounds in the spring, but the championship event has been moved to the spring and automatic qualifying events removed from the schedule.
