ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team came up short in a home bout against Adrian College, falling 2-0 in the contest.
After a flurry of early shots from both teams, Adrian took an early lead with a goal in the third minute of the first period, leaving fans expecting a high-scoring affair.
However, neither team was able to find the back of the net again until Adrian put its second goal on the board late in the fifth minute of the final frame. That was the final change to the scoreboard, closing the scoring in a 2-0 win for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Grace Canty (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and junior Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) paced the Thunder offense with four shots apiece, while junior Emily Nettesheim (Hartland, Wisc.) deterred 35 of Adrian's 37 total shots in what was a solid outing.
The Thunder fall to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in NCHA play following this loss. The women will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 6, when they will host Lake Forest in a conference matchup. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 PM puck drop in the Thunder Ice Arena.
