ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's hockey team came up short in their final regular-season game of the year falling 4-1 to visiting Lake Forest College.
The Foresters started the contest strong scoring three goals in the first period of play. In the second they once again held the Thunder off the board extending the lead to four with the lone goal of the stanza.
Trine finally found the back of the net in the final minutes of the third period. Freshman Michelle Byker (Gurnee, Ill.) came up with the goal following two quick passes from senior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) and junior Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.).
The Thunder fall to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play following the loss.
The team will head into the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs next week with the opening round coming on Wednesday, March 10.
