ANGOLA, Ind. The Trine University women's hockey team has released their schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The Thunder boast a full slate of 25 games, with 11 scheduled for inside of Thunder Ice Arena and 14 on the road. The team begins the season on a four-game homestand, hosting SUNY Canton for a pair of tune-up contests before hopping into Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play by hosting the University of Dubuque. The Spartans are a first-year program and new faces to the NCHA.
The team splits weekends over the next two weeks, traveling to face St. Norbert College before hosting Lake Forest College with all four games a part of NCHA play. They travel to New York to face SUNY Potsdam for a pair of games.
After the Thanksgiving break, the makes a brief return to NCHA play by traveling to square off with Marian University on December 1st and 2nd. Their final games before the winter break come against Hilbert College. The home contests are scheduled for Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9.
The team returns to action with three non-conference games against NCHA opponents. They will head to Lake Forest, Ill. for two games, one against Dubuque and the other against their hosts from Lake Forest. Then on January 6th the team goes to Adrian College for a lone game.
The next three weeks of the regular season see Trine sandwich a home doubleheader against Concordia University Wisconsin between trips to Aurora University and Lawrence University. The season ends with a home-and-home with Adrian, Trine will host on Friday, February 9.
The Thunder finished a tumultuous 2022-23 season with a 10-17 overall record, while going 6-10 in NCHA play. They finished the regular season sixth in the conference before being defeated in the opening round of the Slaats Cup Playoffs.
The team opens the season on Friday, October 27 with their game against SUNY Canton. That contest is set to start at 4 p.m.
