HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Prior to the start of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament Semifinals, the conference has unveiled the recipients of their 2023-24 postseason awards. Two from the Trine University women's basketball team were selected as All-MIAA honorees for their on-court performance during throughout the year.
Junior guard Sidney Wagner of Warsaw, Indiana was tabbed First Team All-MIAA for the second consecutive season. Wagner was the league's second-highest scorer at 15.4 points per game this season and was the team leader in points per game. She was the team's leading rebounder at 6.4 boards per game, distributed a team-high 3.3 assists per game and notched 2.4 steals per game to pace the squad. Wagner's steals numbers are the best in the MIAA this season.
Also recognized by the league was Sierra Hinds as a Second Team All-MIAA honoree. Hinds was second on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per game and was prolific from beyond the arc. The Carmel, Indiana native averaged nearly two makes from three in each game this season and shot 37.5% from the field from long range. Both Wagner and hinds were pivotal parts of a defense that led the MIAA in turnover margin at 6.31 as well as fewest turnovers per game at 13.5.
Trine looks to extend their season on Friday, February 23 with the MIAA Tournament Semifinal matchup with Calvin University. That game will be played at 5:30 p.m. on a neutral floor at Hope College.
