DULUTH, Minn. -- Junior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) has been named this week's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Women's Offensive Player of the Week.
It is the first time this season that any member of the Thunder has earned the award. It is the fourth time she has been named player of the week in her career. She took the award on the back of two crucial goals on the weekend as the team went 2-0 against Marian University.
On Friday, Isaacson's goal in the second period gave the team a 2-0 lead. It ended up being a crucial one for the team as they allowed the opposition's lone goal of the contest a few minutes later. The team went on to win the game 4-1 with Isaacson's tally being the game-winner.
Saturday saw a tighter contest between the two teams with the game tied at one goal each late into the third period. Isaacson broke the tie with just 25 seconds remaining in the contest giving the team a win with her second goal of the weekend.
She currently leads the team in two offensive categories including goals with seven and points with 13.
Trine took over the fifth spot in the NCHA standings following the pair of wins. They will continue their season by traveling to face the College of St. Scholastica on Friday, January 24 at 8 p.m. CST.
