Kyle Lindsay came to Trine in 2011 as an assistant coach for the Trine University men’s basketball team.
Since coming to Trine, Lindsay has helped develop five First Team All-MIAA performers including 2013 MIAA Player of the Year and Third-Team Team All-American Ian Jackson. Scott Rogers (2012), Tyler Good (2014), Will Dixon (2015) and Jared Holmquist (2015) were also named first-team all-conference. Lindsay oversees the Thunder’s academic advising program. Under Lindsay's guidance, Trine earned a MIAA Team Academic Award and posted a 3.31 GPA during the 2015-16 school year. The Thunder had seven players achieve at least a 3.50 GPA during the 2015-16 academic year.
Before Trine, Lindsay spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach at Illinois College. The Blueboys finished with a 16-8 record, the program’s best in 33 years.
Lindsay is a native of Toledo, Ohio, and is also a graduate of Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Lindsay competed in football for four years and basketball for one year at Adrian College. He was named a First Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association punter as a member of the football team.
Following his playing career, Lindsay served as an assistant coach for the Adrian College men’s basketball team. He also served as a varsity assistant coach at Ottawa Hills High School under the supervision of his father, John Lindsay. In his two years at Ottawa Hills, the Green Bears posted a record of 43-5 and advanced to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state semifinals for the first time in school history.
