Thunder Number One for the First TimeMarch 21, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – For the first time in program history, the Trine University men’s basketball team sits atop the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll in the final edition of the national rankings for the 2023-24 season. The Thunder had been as high as #2 in the country both in the 2020-21 season and earlier this year. Trine collected all 25 first-place votes to be the unanimous number one as the reigning National Champions.

Cortez Garland Secures All-American Status by D3hoops.comMarch 18, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – Senior guard Cortez Garland has been named Fifth Team All-American by D3hoops.com. Garland was named Second Team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and a Second Team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com last week and is now the first All-American selection from the men’s basketball program since the 2020-21 season.

Trine Men's Basketball Wins NCAA National ChampionshipMarch 16, 2024FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In the team’s first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Trine University men’s basketball team ran the table and won the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship with a 69-61 victory over Hampden-Sydney College. The victory came in front of a crowd of 4,546, a new record for the best attendance for an NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship game.

The Thunder were able to get out and run for 32 points on 20 Griffin turnovers throughout the game and a 27-15 difference in fast break points.

Men's Basketball MIAA Co-Champions Despite Overtime LossFebruary 17, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – In a battle between two top-10 teams in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, the #10 Calvin University Knights were able to defeat the #7 Trine University men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon in overtime 73-66. The teams will share the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship title, but the Thunder will host the MIAA Tournament by virtue of winning the tiebreaker between the schools. Both teams conclude the regular season with identical records of 22-3 and 14-2 inside the conference.
