Brooks Miller Named Glenn Robinson Award Recipient
April 04, 2024PHOENIX, Ariz. – Head Coach Brooks Miller of the Trine University men’s basketball team has been named the Glenn Robinson Award winner as the top NCAA Division III coach during the 2023-24 season. The award was announced in the lead up to the NCAA Division I Final Four in Phoenix, Arizona. -

Thunder Number One for the First Time
March 21, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – For the first time in program history, the Trine University men’s basketball team sits atop the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll in the final edition of the national rankings for the 2023-24 season. The Thunder had been as high as #2 in the country both in the 2020-21 season and earlier this year. Trine collected all 25 first-place votes to be the unanimous number one as the reigning National Champions.

NABC Names Brooks Miller National Coach of the Year
March 20, 2024KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trine University men’s basketball head coach Brooks Miller continued to add on to his list of accolades in the 2023-24 postseason when he was named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) National Coach of the Year. He was also tabbed National Coach of the Year by D3hoops.com.

March 18, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University will be hosting a celebration of the men’s basketball team’s NCAA Division III National Championship on Tuesday, March 19. The event will take place at the MTI Center beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a formal program followed by media availability.

Cortez Garland Secures All-American Status by D3hoops.com
March 18, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – Senior guard Cortez Garland has been named Fifth Team All-American by D3hoops.com. Garland was named Second Team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and a Second Team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com last week and is now the first All-American selection from the men’s basketball program since the 2020-21 season.

Trine Men's Basketball Wins NCAA National Championship
March 16, 2024FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In the team’s first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Trine University men’s basketball team ran the table and won the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championship with a 69-61 victory over Hampden-Sydney College. The victory came in front of a crowd of 4,546, a new record for the best attendance for an NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship game.

NABC All-District Awards See Cortez Garland as Second Team Member
March 15, 2024KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced Cortez Garland as a Second Team All-District player in District VII of NCAA Division III. The Detroit, Michigan native was also a Second Team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com earlier in the week.

College on Thursday night inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to secure their spot in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship game. The team will play #1 Hampden-Sydney College at 4:06 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 in the final game of the 2023-24 season.

March 01, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men’s basketball team won their first NCAA Tournament game in program history on Friday night with a 91-81 victory over Fontbonne University, the tournament champions of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). The Thunder were able to get out and run for 32 points on 20 Griffin turnovers throughout the game and a 27-15 difference in fast break points.

February 23, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – The #9 Trine University men’s basketball team had to withstand a late run by the Adrian College Bulldogs to advance to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament Finals game via a 74-70 win on Friday. The Thunder (23-3) won the Semifinal Round over the Bulldogs (8-19) thanks to a big stop defensively by Grant Pahl with a block in the final seconds.

Men's Basketball MIAA Co-Champions Despite Overtime Loss
February 17, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – In a battle between two top-10 teams in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, the #10 Calvin University Knights were able to defeat the #7 Trine University men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon in overtime 73-66. The teams will share the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship title, but the Thunder will host the MIAA Tournament by virtue of winning the tiebreaker between the schools. Both teams conclude the regular season with identical records of 22-3 and 14-2 inside the conference.

Trine Clinches Share of MIAA Title in Senior Day Win
February 14, 2024ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men’s basketball team clinched a share of their third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular season title on Wednesday night with a 105-74 thrashing of Kalamazoo College. The Thunder have also clinched the number one seed in the MIAA Tournament and will host the semifinal and final rounds of the event on February 23-24.
