ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's hockey team headed into the second period with a 1-1 tie, but ultimately came up short to visiting Adrian College by the score of 5-1.
The Bulldogs struck first in the contest with a goal at the seven-minute mark of the first period.
The Thunder would knot it up six minutes later. Junior TJ Delaney (St. Louis, Mo.) started the play with a long pass up the ice, which classmate Jared Domin (Novi, Mich.) collected and carried the rest of the way to the net. Rather than taking a shot, Domin passed it across the face of the net to sophomore Brendan Prappas (West Bloomfield, Mich.) who came up with the goal. The 1-1 score would hold into the first intermission.
Trine came out of the break on a mission tallying five shots on goal in the first two minutes of play and looked poise to secure a goal when they were awarded a power-play opportunity just ahead of the two-minute mark. But Adrian's penalty kill was up to the task and shutout the Thunder.
Then at the six-minute mark, the Bulldogs scored took advantage of a power-play opportunity of their own to score what would be the game-winner. They would add two more goals in the second and another in the third to come up with the 5-1 victory.
The Thunder fall to 0-2 following the loss. they will travel to face Adrian again on Saturday, Nov. 14. That game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
