Trine Football Reveals 2023 Schedule

Trine Football Reveals 2023 Schedule

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University football team has unveiled its 2023 season schedule.

The Thunder will matchup with four Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) teams in the non-conference portion of their schedule, starting with a road game at Anderson University. The season opener will take place under the light at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 2.

Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium opens its gates for football in 2023 for the first time when the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology comes north to Angola. The engineering schools have split a home-and-home over the last two seasons with thrilling games in each. In 2022, the Thunder came from behind to win at Rose-Hulman, 24-23. The home opener for Trine will be under the lights at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 9.

Franklin College is the week three opponent for the Thunder. The Grizzlies will be in town on Saturday, September 16 for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The non-conference section of the 2023 schedule concludes with a road contest at Hanover College on Saturday, September 23 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Trine will be tested early in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) slate by facing the defending champion Alma College Scots in week five. The Thunder will make the trip to Alma on Saturday, September 30 at 2 p.m.

After back-to-back weeks on the road, Trine will be at home on Saturday, October 7 and Saturday, October 14. First up, the Thunder take on the Adrian College Bulldogs at 1 p.m. Trine is riding a four-game winning streak against Adrian and are looking to retain the Border Brawl trophy.

The following week, the Thunder do battle with the University of Olivet Comets. Last season's game went to three overtime periods before Alex Price found Kale Lawson in the endzone for the game-winning two-point conversion attempt. That home game will begin at 1 p.m.

On Saturday, October 21, Trine will face Albion College on the road at 1 p.m. before entering their bye week. Coming off the hiatus, the Thunder make a trip north to Hope College to face the Flying Dutch on Saturday, November 4 at 1 p.m.

The regular season comes to a close on Saturday, November 11 with a tussle against the Kalamazoo College Hornets. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
