GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's cross country team wrapped up the fall season with a second-place showing at the three-team Calvin (Mich.) College Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Trine finished with 48 points to place second of three teams.  Calvin won the event with 18 points and Adrian (Mich.) College was third at 74 points.

Senior Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) was the Thunder's top runner in fourth place after running a time of 25:17.59 for the 8k course.  Senior Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind./Roncalli) was the next to cross the finish line after posting a mark of 25:49.73 which put him in seventh place overall.

Senior Derek Miller (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) had a top-15 time of 26:11.28 which was good enough for 11th place and third best on the team.  The duo of juniors Noah Acker (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) and Quinten Prieur (Constantine, Mich./Constantine) finished back-to-back in 15th and 16th place with marks of 26:31.05 and 26:32.76, respectively.

Senior Harrison Korkos (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) and sophomore Jacob Myers (Kokomo, Ind./Northwestern) also finished back-to-back with Korkos running a time of 26:50.97 to place 18th and Myers had a time of 26:54.72 to finish 19th and round out the top seven times.

"Calvin's men were just too much firepower's for us today," said Head Coach Zach Raber.  "Jack ran tough up front but just came up short.  I thought Neil O'Brien, Noah Acker and Quinten Prieur each put together nice races as well.  We'll collect ourselves now and start doing the work to try and bring home an indoor track championship."
