HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Senior Mark Civanich was able to capture his sixth career Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week award on Monday thanks to a career-low round on his home course.
Civanich was the individual medalist at the Ken Venturi Invitational with a round of 66 at Zollner Golf course last Wednesday. He was able to cap his round with birdies on holes 17 and 18 shortly after a delay for lightning in the area. In total, Civanich hit for six birdies, all coming in holes 7-18.
As a team, the Thunder tied for second with NCAA Division II Wayne St. University. It is the team's best finish in the young 2023 fall slate after a fourth-place at the Lou Collins Memorial. Trine will compete in the Irish Hills Invitational at Tecumseh Golf Club on September 15-16 for their next event.
