ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team was ranked seventh in the week three D3hoops.com national poll heading into the team's biggest home game of the year versus number one, Hope College.
It is the third consecutive week the Thunder have sat in the seventh spot, but a win over the Flying Dutch could propel Trine towards the top of the board. Hope is currently riding a 54-game winning streak.
The Thunder are on a four-game winning streak, with wins by an average of 34.25 points per game and three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) wins. Against Olivet, Trine held the Comets to just 20 points, the fewest in a game since 2016.
As a team, the Thunder are number one in NCAA DIII with a 1.60 assist-to-turnover ratio. Alyssa Argyle [Freeland, Mich. / Freeland] has the fifth-highest ratio individually at 3.10. She has not had a turnover in the last four games with 16 total assists in that time.
In the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll, Trine is listed as the number 11 team in the nation.
The matchup between number one Hope and number seven Trine will be on Saturday, December 18 with a 3 pm tip-off at MTI Center.
