ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team moved up to fifth in the most recent D3hoops.com top 25 poll, surpassing Amherst College who suffered their first loss of the season over the weekend.
The Thunder picked up two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) wins last week, the first at home versus Alma College 65-49, as well as an 85-36 victory at Saint Mary's College on Saturday.
In those games, Kelsy Taylor [Louisville, Ky. / New Albany] averaged 10.0 points per game on 10-of-15 shooting and brought in 6.5 rebounds per game. Kayla Wildman [Rockford, Mich. / Rockford] scored a team-high 11.5 points per game last week.
Following stupendous defensive games, Trine has entered the top 10 nationally in scoring defense at 48.1 opposing points per game.
The Thunder travel to Albion College on Wednesday, January 19 to square off with the Britons, who are receiving votes in the national poll.
