MARSHALL, Mich. - At the first MIAA Jamboree of the season, the Trine University women's golf team finish fifth with a team score of 366.
Hosted by Albion College at the par-72, 5,834 yard Medalist Golf Club, the Comets took both the team and individual honors. Olivet took home the gold with a team score of 329 and Theresa Damico claimed medalist honors with a 78.
Trine finished six shots behind four place Hope College. Sophomore Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) led the Thunder with an 85 on the afternoon to finish in a tie for sixth. Four shots back in a tie for 15th was fellow sophomore Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) who carded an 89 on the round. Tied for 24th was senior Leisha Beutler (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) and freshman Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) shooting a 96 respectively. Freshman Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) wrapped up the scoring for the Trine team with a 98 for the day to finish in a tie for 31st.
Playing as individuals for the Thunder were senior Jennifer Sir Louis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and sophomore Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community). Sir Louis finished in a tie for 31st with a 98 while Freeland shot a 105 to place 39th.
Trine returns to the course on Sept. 28 for the second MIAA Jamboree of the season hosted by Kalamazoo beginning at 1 p.m.
