ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University men's and women's track and field teams were recognized for their efforts in the classroom in 2019-20 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  In addition, individuals from both teams were also recognized.

Both teams were named as USTFCCCA All-Academic for having a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.  Overall, there were 150 different men's programs and 209 women's programs at the NCAA Division III level who were honored for their academic excellence.  The Thunder men finished the 2019-20 academic year with a combined 3.43 GPA and the women had a 3.70 GPA.

Individually, two members of the men's team earned individual honors as All-Academic Athletes.  Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) and Ben Williams (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) were two of 325 total men's athletes from 107 institutions were named All-Academic.  To be eligible for the award, each student-athlete needed to have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finished ranked in the top-50 nationally in an event (top-35 for relays).  Individuals who were accepted into the NCAA Division Indoor National Championship this past season were also eligible.

On the women's side, four student-athletes were named in Chloe Brittain (Breckenridge, Mich./Breckenridge), Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern).  Overall, there were 477 women from 123 institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes.
