OBERLIN, OHIO -- The Trine University men's cross country team finished in 13th place at the annual Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.
The Thunder posted an overall team score of 424 points to place 13th out of 39 teams. Berea (Ky.) College was the top team with 75 points and Otterbein (Ohio) University was second with 109 points. Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University rounded out the top-three squads with a total of 125 points.
The top overall individual time of the event for Trine was turned in by junior Jack Beakas (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) who ran a time of 25:05.5 which put him in 15th place among 339 total runners.
Senior Villas Vuskalns (Indianapolis, Ind./Beech Grove) also placed in the top-50 in 49th place after completing the 8k course in a time of 25:46.1. Junior Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind./Roncalli) was the third Thunder runner to cross the finish line after posting a mark of 26:00.1.
Also competing in the varsity race was junior Harrison Korkos (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) who ran a time of 26:29.2 and placed 120th.
Sophomore Brandon Sill (Pekin, Ind./Eastern) turned in a time of 27:02.6 and was followed by junior Alex Amaro (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) who recorded a time of 27:10.5.
Completing the field of Trine runners in the race were junior Levi Neuzerling (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville), sophomore Will Huffman (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock), freshmen Lance Williamson (Decatur, Ind./Bellmont) and Skyler Schrope (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock). Neuzerling had the top mark of the remaining four at 27:39.1, followed by Huffman in a time of 27:51.8. Williamson completed the race in 27:56.2 and Schrope had a mark of 28:35.2.
Trine will next compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Thunder will serve as hosts of this year's championship with the race held on Trine's campus. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m.
