ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine cross country teams have announced their 2017 race schedule.

For the fourth consecutive season, the teams will open the fall at the Manchester University Hokum Karem. This year's race is scheduled for Friday, Sep. 1 on the campus of Manchester. The race consists of pairs of runners alternating one-mile laps over a distance of eight miles, with each runner completing four miles. The Thunder men have won the event three years in a row. The women's team placed second in last year's race.

Trine then travels for a preview of the Regional race course at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. The meet will be held at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio, the same location as the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional.

Following a week off from competition, the Thunder compete in the first of two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association races. The MIAA Jamboree will be hosted by Saint Mary's College Saturday, Sep. 23. The results of the Jamboree count one-third towards the final conference standings.

The MIAA Championship will be hosted by Kalamazoo College Saturday, Oct. 28. Trine's men's team has placed third each of the last two years, while the women's program has placed fourth in each of those seasons. Each team produced an All-MIAA performer last fall. Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont. / West Yellowstone) has earned All-Conference recognition two years in a row for the Thunder women.

Sandwiched between the two conference events are two additional races. The teams then make their return to the Louisville Cross Country Classic, one of the largest cross country races in the nation Sep. 30. Trine will also get a Regional preview Oct. 14 at Oberlin College in the Inter-Regional Rumble.

The season concludes with the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, scheduled for Nov. 11 on the Ohio Wesleyan course. Any Trine performers to qualify would then advance to the NCAA Division III National Championship meet in Elsah, Ill.
